Terran Technology

Terra is called "Earth" by its inhabitants. Sierran Intelligence has studied this planet, classified as SK-3, for many centuries. The Terrans share a remarkably similar external appearance with the Sierran race. The famous Sierran fighter pilot Talon has performed many covert reconnaissance missions amongst the Terran people, blending in with the population with ease. The Terrans have achieved limited interstellar capability.

Mk.-IX Hawk

The Hawk was Earth's first purpose-designed space-superiority fighter craft. It bears a family resemblance to the Eagle utility transport, but is in fact an entirely new design, much smaller and the first Terran ship designed specifically for space combat. The Hawk ultilized the most advance Terran technology of the time. Powered by a massive fusion engine with 2 smaller booster units, the Hawk was the fastest Terran ship of its time. The nozzles of the booster engines were angled outwards to enhance turning performance. There is also a battery of chemical maneuvering jets and lift jets under the fuselage. Most of the long fuselage was occupied by fuel cells, giving the Hawk impressive range for a small ship of its era. The Hawk carried a crew of two; pilot and navigator/weapons officer. The main armament comprised of a rapid-firing pulse laser cannon under the nose. Two lateral stub wings provided 4 hardpoints for other ordnance. The normal fit are a pair of missile pods on the outer hardpoints and ECM pods on the inner points. The Hawks shown here belonged to the famed 319 Deep Space Intercept Squadron commanded by Col. Rhiannon Freer, and normally carries a single SIM-47 Duster stand-off nuclear missile.

The Mk.IX was the dominant and definitive version of the Hawk, popular with its crews, Mk.IX Hawks served the Terran defence forces for many decades, enjoying a long career with second-line units even after more advanced fighters like the SA-43 Hammerhead replaced it in front line squadrons.
