The Sorceress' "Spellbinder"

The Spellbinder is the personal heavy assault fighter used by the mysterious being known only as "the Sorceress". Very little is known about her and her tremendous ability to command dark, magical powers. It is not known whether she is an individual mutation of a particular race or a member of an unknown species. The Sorceress lives alone on the hot, humid swamp planet of Kovan-5, and can somehow summon and control the creatures and forces of nature around her, making her impervious to attack by outsiders.

As is the case with the Sorceress, it is unknown whether the Spellbinder is a unique, one-of design; but no matching craft has been found in the known galaxy. The Spellbinder is tremendously fast, much faster than any other existing fighter. It uses a hybrid reactionless drive system very similar to those used by earlier Sierran fighters. Like Sierran fighters it can operate in space, atmosphere or underwater. For a fighter of its size and mass, the Spellbinder is quite agile.

The Spellbinder's primary "weapons" are a unique system of mysterious "spell amplifiers" mounted around the ship's extremities. These strange devices projects and amplifies the Sorceress' powers over long ranges and with tremendous power. Through these devices, she can wreak havoc with the systems of attacking ships in space, or summon the forces of nature in the air and sea to overwhelm her adversaries. These "weapons" are backed up by two guided energy torpedo emitters very similar to those used by Sierran ships. These weapons can be guided by an energy matrix, like in Sierran fighters...but more often than not, they are guided by the Sorceress' own mind! Such is the power of this being. Like Sierran fighters, they can also be locked in forward, rapid-firing mode.

The Spellbinder has a small, low cabin aft of the cockpit, which has a small capture cage in which she holds beings to use for her strange, ritualistic and sadistic sacrifices. We know this because the one and only individual to have survived capture by the Sorceress is the Sierran fighter-ace Talon, who escaped with valuable intelligence about the Spellbinder and its mysterious owner.

An excerpt from Talon's report:

"I can neither explain nor comprehend the powers that the Sorceress commands. She can evidently command the forces of nature within her immediate vicinity to do her bidding, and is able to control totally wild animals of lower intelligence. From her ship, the 'Spellbinder', she can project her powers a hundred fold!...and can stop starfighters dead in their tracks. The Sorceress is supremely confident in her abilities and shows neither fear nor compassion. She is well equipped and, (as I discovered) is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well. Frankly, in all my years as a warrior I have never felt as much fear as when I was her captive, then as her prey for those long, wet days. I was lucky to escape with my life! I only hope that she is unique and there are no others of her kind...The Sorceress is an extremely dangerous adversary and must be approached with extreme caution."
