Starsprite-class Starfighter

The Starsprite's outstanding qualities does come with a hefty price, however, making it by far the most expensive mass-market starfighter. In fact, it is outrageously expensive! Only the wealthiest independent operators can afford a fleet of Starsprites. Quite often, a small number of Starsprites are purchased to equip elite squadrons while cheaper ships equip the bulk of the operator's fighter fleet. Sometimes, the head of an organization will even purchase a single Starsprite for his/her own use, mainly for personal prestige and vanity. Only a relatively small number of Starsprites were ever produced, due to their extremely high cost. The company that designed it never even settled on an identity before the combination of slow sales, high manufacture costs, and clashing egos doomed the venture. Starsprites are now considered collector's items, with very few operators fielding them in substantive numbers.
