Jaina Solo's X-Wing

The Force-guided proton torpedoes fired from Luke Skywalker's X-Wing to destroy the first Death Star has ensured the venerable starfighter's place in history. Originally designed for the Empire by Incom Corp. as a philosophically different alternative to the unshielded, lightly-armed TIE starfighter series developed by Seinar Technologies, the prototype and plans for the multi-role, heavily armed and armoured X-Wing was stolen by defecting Incom Corp. engineers and delivered into Rebel hands, giving the Rebel Alliance the edge they desperately needed. The X-Wing continues to be the mainstay of the New Republic forces, it is extremely popular due to its excellent balance of performance and strength. It is pleasant to fly and has great endurance and reliability. It has exceptional atmospheric performance, and its four heavy laser-cannons gives the X-Wing tremendous, long range hitting power. The X-Wing with its various variants has remained the New Republic's dominant fighter despite the introduction of the technically superior E-Wing, and constant improvements have kept it competitive in the face of newer and better competition. This X-Wing is the personal ship of Jedi-knight Jaina Solo (Rogue 11) during her tenure with the elite Rogue Squadron. The ultimate X-Wing version is the XJ-Class built for use by the Jedi Knights.
